This was my first summer as a resident of New Jersey, and more specifically the Jersey Shore.

Waking up in my little Seaside Heights apartment every morning to see the sun shing and to hear the seagulls (despite how mean they are) cawing was phenomenal.

I'm of course looking forward to local summer, which I've been hearing about since moving here a few months ago.

Fewer visitors, less crowded beaches, but still all the fun that the Jersey Shore and it's surrounding areas have to offer.

Count me in!

The summer moved quick and I finally saw a tell tale sign that it was coming to a close this morning while jogging down the boardwalk.

Over the summer, Seaside Heights had weekly concerts on the beach.

They were a lot of fun to watch from the boardwalk, especially when the Grateful Dead cover band Dark Star Orchestra was performing.

They put on a great show!

My wife was a huge fan of the Billy Joel experience that performed a couple of weeks ago.

Now, usually that stage is kept up throughout the week, right near Casino Pier.

It's folded up and semi-deconstructed but usually I see it sitting there waiting for the next group of musicians to come and bring it to life.

This morning in particular though the stage was completely removed from it's usual home on the beach.

This is one of the first signs in my mind that fall is on its way, and soon we'll be carving pumpkins and getting lost in corn mazes.

Now, before you get the end of summer scares keep in mind that the official end of summer is September 22nd, so we still have some time left to enjoy our shore towns!
