There's still a little time before Back to School starts here in Ocean County, but this message is important to share before all the new school year pictures pop up on Facebook.

If you have friends who live outside of New Jersey as I do, you've probably already started to see the 1st Day of School pictures flooding your social media. It's adorable to see kids getting ready to start a new year. You're proud of your kids growing up and starting a new phase of their lives, and that's okay! But, as innocent as those pictures may seem, they could cause more harm than good.

Over the weekend, I came across a post from our neighbors in South Jersey - the Cherry Hill Police Department, who shared some tips on how you can share your children's first-day pictures while keeping them safe. The Cherry Hill Police Department also mentioned that these kinds of pictures can not only put your child at risk with predators, but you could also be giving away information about your passwords and sensitive information.

They warn not to include your child's school, teacher's name, age, grade, hobbies, and more. Check out the full post below:

So, before you post those back-to-school pictures, be smart, and leave out unnecessary information that can put your family at risk!

NJ arrests 31 accused child predators in Operation 24/7

A roundup of 31 men have been accused of sexually exploiting children online, state Attorney General Gurbir Grewal announced on July 14 while detailing "Operation 24/7."

The suspects “possessed and or distributed videos and images of child sexual abuse, including in many cases videos of young children being raped by adults,” Grewal said.

Chat apps and gaming platforms remain favorite hunting grounds for child predators and even as the pandemic winds down, many children have continued to spend more time online.

State Police received 39% more tips in just the first 6 months of 2021 than they received in the entire year in 2019. The following are suspects charged in "Operation 24/7."
