We Can Drive Better Than This: Horrible Traffic Jam at Six Flags Great Adventure Entrance

You won't believe your eyes when you see this monstrosity of a traffic jam on Rt 537 from over the weekend. 

When I was scrolling through Facebook and saw this post on Ocean County Scanner News' page, I had to double-take. There's being excited to go to Great Adventure, and then there's risking everyones' lives to get in the park. Take a look at the jaw-dropping picture for yourself:

We can drive better than this, Ocean County! There is so much to unpack here. Everyone knows that left turns in New Jersey almost always aren't a thing. And crossing over a double yellow line is a HUGE no-no. I understand that it's annoying for the people coming from the opposite direction to have to make a jughandle just to sit in more traffic, but cutting through oncoming traffic was not a good idea. What if people didn't stop? What if an accident happened because people were swerving around trying to avoid the mess? Think of how many children were in those cars. This could have been a tragic scenario.

As if that wasn't bad enough, drivers got "creative" and decided to drive in reverse to get into the park's exit. Don't believe me? Check out this video from Ocean County Scanner:

This really looks like something that only happens on TV or in movies, but yet, it's happening right here in Jackson. Now that Summer is here, and life is returning to normal, I can predict it will only get worse.

So please, Ocean County - use caution when driving! We are better than this!
