Pantera to Hold Vinnie Paul ‘Celebration of Life’ Event
"Vinnie Paul: A Public Celebration of Life" will take place in the Bomb Factory in Dallas on July 1, the day after Paul's private funeral. The event begins at 3.33PM, with the line for access to wristbands opening at noon. This is the only way to gain entry, because no advance tickets or lists being made available.
Details of the memorial’s format were not revealed.
The even't starting time is a reference to Paul remembering his late brother, “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott, who was shot dead onstage in 2004. “His number was three, you know,” Paul said in 2006. “And every day, 3.33 will appear on the clock, and I don't even mean to look at it, and it just reminds me of him every day. … I’ll be right in the middle of something, busy, busy, busy, and I'll look over, and, by gosh, it's 3.33. Or will go to turn on the street, and that's the address, 333, or something. That's the closest I can say to any kind of supernatural thing … every time, I'm just like, 'That's him reminding us he's still around'."
Paul’s family had previously stated that he’d be buried between his mother and Dimebag. Details surrounding his death have not been revealed, though authorities reported that it “did not appear suspicious.” Paul had recently completed tracking drums for Hellyeah’s next album.
