I've been trying to find security camera video of this incident to no avail, so for now we just have to settle on reading about a brawl between two middle-aged women at a local ShopRite.

In one corner, hailing from Brick, New Jersey - a 43-year-old woman. Her opponent - a 45-year-old woman from Howell. The battleground - the ShopRite on Route 9 in Howell. The cause of the fight? The Brick native apparently took too many items into the Express Checkout Lane, and the Howell woman called her out.

Words were exchanged, and things escalated to punching, scratching, hair-pulling, and spitting. A 43-year-old woman from Freehold tried to separate the two, and ended up getting scratched and BITTEN for her efforts.

ShopRite employees were able to break up the fight before police arrived. According to Patch, the three women were treated for minor injuries at the scene by the Southard Fire Department and the Howell Township First Aid Squad, and all three refused transport to the hospital.

The Brick woman was charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct, and the Howell woman was charged with disorderly conduct. Both were released on complaint summonses pending a future court date in Howell Municipal Court.

The morals of the story? (1) Don't abuse the privileges of the Express Lane (2) Don't try to separate Karen and Janice, or you'll get bit.
