The roaring thunderstorms and winds casting their way across the Jersey Shore from Sunday into Monday caused a lot of power outages among other issues for homeowners and drivers.

Manchester Police were able to catch a transformer exploding and electrical wires falling to the ground right on dash cam video while on patrol along Route 70.

Officer were responding to the intersection that crosses Colonial Drive near the police station for a report of a traffic light being out due to the power outage.

As officers were setting up traffic cones and directing traffic, sparks were flying due to an arcing transformer.

Police say a utility worker narrowly escaped death when handling a wire that was believed to be de-energized.

The wire then caught fire as it struck the wet ground.

The worker was wearing proper safety equipment.

Nobody was injured and police said everyone made it home.
