As we STILL deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, life still has to go on.

As you know, so many events and fundraisers for local and national charities were canceled this past year, but there are still so many people that need help throughout the year, and organizations are trying to do whatever they can to provide for families in need.

The United States Marines each year holds its annual "Toys for Tots" events throughout the country to collect toys for families and children in need.

The Marine Toys for Tots Program collected and distributed 19 million toys to 73 million less fortunate children in this past year allowing them to experience the joy of Christmas and receive a message of hope that otherwise would not have been there.

Toms River Volunteer Fire Company #1 is helping out the Marines this season with the toy drive.

They will be hosting a “TOYS FOR TOTS” event and collection day Saturday, November 14th, and Sunday, November 15th from 10 a.m to 5:00 p.m both days at the Toms River Fire Company 1 downtown station location at 26 Robbins Street.

Please bring a new unwrapped toy for a girl or boy and the Marines will be on hand at the station to collect them for distribution on Christmas Day.

On a side note...Happy Birthday to the United States Marine Corp. On Tuesday, November 10, they will be celebrating their 245th birthday.

Happy Birthday, and THANK YOU to all the men and women of the Marines for your sacrifice to our beautiful country for 245 years.
