You've downloaded the Hawk app, right? It's absolutely, totally, 100% free! You can listen live, get traffic and weather updates, send us pictures and video, and even set it up so you can get an alert before our Classic Rock Song of the Day plays!

The only bad thing is that we can't get the Hawk app to send notifications to literally every single phone, which is what we're going to experience this afternoon.

Today, October 3rd, at 2:18pm, we will receive our first test of the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System, or IPAWS.

The test message will have a header that reads "Presidential Alert" and text that says:

THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.

According to FEMA, WEA compatible cell phones that are switched on, within range of an active cell tower, and whose wireless provider participates in WEA should be capable of receiving the test message.

Spoiler alert, if you turn your phone off around 2pm you won't get the IPAWS alert, but if you turn it back on by 3pm, you'll still be able to get the push notification for today's Song of the Day.

That alert won't win you $105, nor qualify you for the $1,000 grand prize, so just download the Hawk app already!
