Did You Nickelodeon Has So Many Fascinating New Jersey Ties?
It's really incredible just how big of a role New Jersey plays in Nickelodeon's history and talent.
Last night, I was browsing Hulu for something to watch, when I came across the documentary The Orange Years: The Nickelodeon Story. I was expecting to learn some new things about the network, but I was shocked to find out that it has a lot of ties to New Jersey!
We know the channel today for its shows like Spongebob Squarepants, Hey Arnold, Rugrats, and more. But the documentary shared the story of a time before all those shows came to be, and Nickelodeon was finding its footing as a network. There was a lot of work that went into finding out what kind of programs kids wanted to watch (I won't give too much away, but this is a very important role that New Jersey played in the channel's success).
Before its signature "slime," Nickelodeon looked a lot different.
A lot of the network's talent also hails from New Jersey. I'm not only talking about actors, but figures who helped the channel come to be where it is today.
And finally, I bet you didn't know I (yes, me, Diana Tyler) am one of the special ties Nickelodeon has to New Jersey. You'll learn a little bit more about that one later on, but it's something I'm very proud of.
Get ready to have your mind blown (and to be even more proud of our state) for having played such a huge role in Nickelodeon's history! Here are 5 fascinating ties Nickelodeon has to New Jersey.
