Sen. John McKeon sent a letter to the 50 largest food-service establishments in New Jersey, urging them to better comply with a state law on the books since 2022.
It wasn't known at the time, but state data shows around 500 people who later tested COVID+ already had symptoms by March 4, 2020. Many more were never tested.
Single-use bags and polystyrene food packaging will be phased out in the spring of 2022, and plastic straws will be only on-demand in a year, if it's signed.
