Bruce Gomola Jr., 52, of Burlington Township was indicted Monday by a Burlington County Grand Jury charging him with First Degree Murder, Second Degree Aggravated Assault and Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

Mount Laurel Police responded to a shooting on July 24, 2020 at the Delaware Valley Urology Office on Midlantic Drive and found two victims.

Gomola became upset while trying to book an appointment for his father at the office, an investigation by the BCPO and Mount Laurel Police found out, when a patient services representative, Stephanie Horton, 44, of Willingboro, tried discussing the situation with him.

He allegedly then pulled out a .40 caliber handgun and shot her in the chest with the bullet going directly through her and into the knee of a female patient in the office.

>Knowing what he did, Gomola then left the office and drove off but ended up coming back to the scene of the crime where he surrendered himself to a Mount Laurel Police Detective.

Horton passed away at Cooper University Hospital in Camden.

The other victim, a woman in her 50's, was treated at Cooper University Hospital for her non-life threatening injuries.

Gomola who had been employed as a corrections officer at the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly at the time of his arrest, has been suspended without pay and is being held in a detention facility in northern New Jersey awaiting an arraignment in Superior Court.

Prosecutor Coffina said that Gomola is being prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Bob Van Gilst, supervisor of the BCPO Major Crimes Unit – Violent Crimes Section.
