Police have arrested a man who stole a car in Lakehurst and drove it across the state to Trenton.

Lakehurst Police said they responded to a home for a report of a stolen vehicle around 10:10 pm and it didn't take long for officers to identify Michael D. Carr Jr., 29, of Lakehurst as the suspect.

After it was discovered that Carr had stolen the vehicle from the residence, the vehicle in question was entered as stolen into a national database.
A short time later, the Trenton Police Department contacted Sergeant Iain James and advised him that they had located the vehicle, which was being operated by Carr Jr. who was then placed under arrest by Trenton Police and charged with Receiving Stolen Property by their agency.
Carr Jr. was then driven back across the state and transported to Lakehurst Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Burglary.
He was issued a warrant for the charges and transported to the Ocean County Jail where he was lodged pending a mandatory court appearance with the Ocean County Superior Court.
