Margate's Scott Neustadter and his writing partner, Michael H. Weber, received the first Oscar nominations of their careers for Best Adapted Screenplay for "The Disaster Artist."

"The Disaster Artist" stars James Franco as Tommy Wiseau, and focuses on the creation of Wiseau's film "The Room", notoriously known as the worst movie ever made.

In 2013, "The Room" star Greg Sestero released a memoir, "The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room, the Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made." Neustadter and Weber adapted that story into a screenplay, and are both executive producers of the film.

The competition for "Best Adapted Screenplay" includes "Call Me by Your Name," "Logan," "Molly’s Game," and "Mudbound."  "The Disaster Artist" has already earned James Franco a Golden Globe for Best Actor, and we'll see if the Oscar comes to New Jersey on March 4th.
