We've been talking about this for a while, but it seems like Atlantic City could finally be following through on their plan to allow open alcohol containers on the boardwalk.

The current proposed bill would allow you to have a drink in Atlantic City's Tourism District. Right now, the bill has the support of the City Council, and (surprsingly, to me), the AC Police Department.

The chairman of Atlantic City Alcohol Beverage Control Tom Forkin is actually hopeful that the bill will be passed by Memorial Day Weekend this year.

I was opposed to this two years ago, and my views haven't changed. When you talk to locals that live in Point Pleasant or Seaside, their biggest complaint is the influx of drunk tourists. When you have a place like AC where people are being fed free drinks at the casino, adding in the stress of losing money, it just seems to add up to a volatile situation.

All summer long we read stories about fights in Seaside, and I can only imagine how much worse it would be if the Jersey Shore Bros were allowed to bring their drinks out onto the boards.
