Sea Isle City Welcomes First Baby Since 1977
Sea Isle City doesn't have a hospital within the city limits, so usually expecting mothers head to __ to deliver. When the baby comes early, however, things don't go as planned, and the Sea Isle City EMTs had to do something they hadn't done in 43 years - deliver a baby.
Joe and Jeanne Golato were spending time with their 3-year-old daughter Briella, getting some last R&R three weeks before the due date of their second daughter. Jeanne went into labor, and her husband called the police.
Officer Steve Jankowski with the Sea Isle City Police Department had some intense quotes:
The dad comes running out and said he saw feet, so we know it's a little more serious than the normal transport to the hospital. We had to get supplies to cut umbilical cords and everything in a natural delivery, we did it right there on the bedroom floor.
He saw feet?!? Holy crap, man.
It's actually kind of eerie how similar this is to my current situation. My wife and I have a three-year-old girl, and we're expecting our second daughter in May. I guess we should stay away from Sea Isle City and keep close to a hospital.
