NJ’s New Pothole Law May Make Driving Here Less Painful
Have you ever hit a pothole in Jersey so hard that you actually felt the need to rub your car's dashboard and apologize?
We've all been there.

Every State Thinks It Has The Worst Roads
Every state believes that it, in fact, has the worst potholes in the country. When I lived in Pennsylvania, we would always say our state moniker shouldn't be the Keystone State, but rather, the pothole state, because you couldn't go more than a couple of feet on some roads without having to swerve out of the way of another pothole.
Well, Jersey is also home to some wicked potholes, and with our location to the shore, the constant salt air doesn't really help the situation.
And have you ever seen potholes along 9, 70, 88, or on the Parkway, and thought to yourself, "Are they ever going to fix that?" Because sometimes it feels like potholes never go away.

A New Pothole Law Was Just Passed In New Jersey
That could change in the near future, though, after a new pothole law was just passed in Jersey.
The Law Focuses On Tracking And Transparency
It doesn't really fix the pothole problem, but it does keep us more up to date.
According to 6 ABC, a new bipartisan bill was just passed in New Jersey this week, requiring the New Jersey Department of Transportation to count every pothole it fixes on state roads and then share the data with drivers.
It essentially holds the NJDOT to a higher standard to have potholes fixed in a timely manner and increases transparency for drivers.
Here's What NJDOT Will Now Be Required To Report
The NJDOT will have to share how long it took to fix a pothole, how many potholes were fixed, and how much it cost to fix each pothole.
Does this mean all the potholes will be fixed overnight? No. Will it allow you to see your tax dollars at work, knowing what potholes were fixed? Yes.
So, it's a small victory, but a victory nonetheless.
