After her son injured himself, a New Jersey mom is suing Target for $1.6 million.

The woman's son was playing on top of one of the large, red, concrete balls located at the entrance of most Target stores. He slipped and fell, shattering his elbow and requiring surgery to install metal pins and rods. The child might have permanent problems with range of motion.

The woman is now suing, claiming the balls are a “nuisance that attracts children to play”. Target says the balls are designed to keep cars from driving up the curb and into the front of the store.

If this isn't one of the perfect examples of a sue-happy society, I don't know what is. I know it's a cliche at this point, but keep track of your damn kids! If you think a big concrete ball is dangerous to play on, DON'T LET YOUR KID PLAY ON IT.
