The University of Alabama has expelled Harley Barber, of Marlton NJ, for posting a disgusting racist rant on social media.

Be warned, the language used by Barber in this video is NSFW and offensive. (edit: I found a censored version of her videos; still offensive, but less so than using the actual words on this website)

Barber was identified despite using a "finsta", or "fake Instagram" account. After the University was tagged in a tweet including the video (among others that are just as offensive), the decision was made to remove her from the college. The Alpha Phi sorority has also banned Barber from all chapters.

The low-hanging fruit is to crack jokes about Alabama being racist, or sorority girls being stupid...but this feels way deeper than that. This girl knew that posting horrific racist stuff was wrong, so she set up a secret account to let her vitriol out into the world. She got mad that someone snitched on her, then doubled-down on her hatred in another video, then doubled-down again when her 'finsta' account got deleted by Instagram. There's something wrong with a person who feels like they are being wronged in a situation like this. Even when one of her sorority sisters told her she shouldn't post the video, she responded "I’m in the South now, bitch, so everyone can f**k off. I’m from New Jersey, so I can say n****r as much as I want."

In an interview with the New York Post, Barber tried to apologize, saying:

I feel horrible ... I feel so, so bad and I am so sorry ... I did something really, really bad. I don’t know what to do and I feel horrible. I’m wrong and there’s just no excuse for what I did ... I’m an idiot. There’s no excuse. I did something really bad.

Good for her sorority and good for the University of Alabama for acting quickly.
