Phoebe, a French bulldog, was attacked by a red hawk and luckily escaped alive.

According to News12, Phoebe was in the front yard of her owner, Chris Gooch. The hawk swooped down and attacked the dog. While Phoebe was able to fight off the bird, she still suffered injuries from the hawk's talons.

Red-tailed Hawks weigh between 1.5 and 3.5 pounds, so they normally prey on smaller animals like mice and squirrels. The 25-pound Phoebe was in no danger of being swooped up, but could have been severely injured if the talons had struck her major arteries.

Veterinarians recommend keeping pets on a leash or in a fenced area. Owners should always keep a close eye on their pets while they are outside.
