NJ Attorney General Tries To End Robocalls
At least once a day, I get a call from an unknown number. Sometimes it's purely random, sometimes the first few numbers match mine, sometimes the last numbers are just one digit off from mine. Sometimes I get a voicemail that is three seconds of silence, sometimes I'm being yelled at in Mandarin or some other language I don't understand.
I've submitted my phone (and my wife's, and my mother's, and various other family members' phones) to the Do Not Call list multiple times, to no avail.
The robocalls just keep coming.
Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal joined 34 other Attorneys General to petition the FCC to do something about this cellular plague that has been set upon us.
NY Attorney General Barbara Underwood said
Unwanted robocalls aren’t just a nuisance - they’re a means for scammers to take advantage ... [we] have been bombarded with these illegal robocall scams - including the all-too-common spoofed calls that appear to come from a neighbor - and it’s time for federal action.
I'm skeptical that the FCC will actually do something that is in the best interest of the public, and until something can be done, I'll just continue to ignore my phone unless I recognize the number.
