Heads Up New Jersey, Your Ferry Fare Has Increased
It's been years since I've taken the ferry, but this weekend that'll change.
Later this week, my wife and I are headed out on a mini honeymoon, and we're going to Deleware for a couple of days.
I know, wild honeymoon plans!
Our friends are getting married near Lewes Beach in Deleware, so we're just making a little vacation out of it.
To make it more interesting, we're going to take the Cape May Ferry over to Deleware, and I am so excited about that part of the trip!
I haven't ridden the ferry since I was a kid, but from what I remember it was really fun.
Maybe you take the ferry to work from time to time, especially if you have to travel to New York City from time to time.
One of the most popular ferrys used to make that trip is the Seastrek Ferry, which ships off from the Highlands, as well as the Atlantic Highlands in New Jersey.
According to their website, Seastreak is the most comfortable and quickest way to commute from North Jersey to New York City.
The fare to get from the Highlands to New York in the past was $47 dollars per adult, but this month fares increased for the first time since 2016.
According to NJ.com the Seastreak Ferry will increase the cost of tickets by 4.3 percent.
In addition, the Seastreak ticket book will also see a 3.6 percent cost increase.
What Will It Cost To Ride The Seastreak Ferry?
All things considered, I don't think these increases are too crazy, especially when the company explains the reason for the price hike;
The price of fuel, in combination with rising costs of staffing and maintenance, has forced us to raise our fares. The average price per gallon that Seastreak has paid for the last nine months has been 73% higher than the price that was paid in December of 2021 - James D Barker via NJ.com
The cost of fare for an adult is now $49 for a round trip, up from $47.
In addition, the cost of a 40-trip book has increased from $695 to $720.
In my opinion, a two-dollar increase in fare isn't too bad, and remember you still get a fun boat ride out of it!
