What is the most frustrating part about driving in Monmouth County, especially in the summer?

Well, you now have a platform to suggest some solutions that can help ease congestion and road quality.

The Monmouth County Department of Planning is now running a public input study called "Monmouth Within Reach" along with the North Jersey Transportation Authority collecting your ideas and putting together a plan to address travel demand.

Monmouth County Commissioner Tom Arnone, who also sits on the NJTPA Board of Trustees as a liaison, explains that they're looking to specifically address summer travel areas.

"The goal of this study is to make it easier for people to get where they need and want to go in Monmouth County," Arnone tells 92.7 WOBM News. "We're looking forward to the completion of the study. We've done a lot of analysis and are looking at some of our problem areas and how we can try to fix them and I think it's a really, really good plan here that will ease the burden of the major congestion that we have here in the summer."

Any and all ideas are welcome in this public input study.

"We will take that input and then give our answer back or recommendation back to any of the questions that are conveyed to us," Arnone said.

One idea that Arnone is already discussing is possibly working with Google Map and Waze to provide tourists and residents alike more than one way to get to somewhere like the beach in the summer.

"We have to look at the assets on how the GPS and Waze and all that take you to destinations," Arnone said.

He feels that that should be multiple ways you can get to the beach or somewhere off Route 18, the Garden State Parkway or another major highway or roadway because if there's only one way to get there, everyone will be on the road at the same time but by adding multiple ways to get to a destination, congestion will ease up a bit.

You can submit your ideas anytime but Arnone encourages you to do so sooner rather than later.

"It'll be going on for a few weeks but we have to put a plan together so it's not going to continue through the spring season but definitely for a few weeks through the winter," Arnone said.

"We welcome all input," Arnone said.
