Do you get nervous when it comes to dealing with car issues? Are you one of those people who always think they're going to be taken for a ride when they drop their car off for a simple oil change, only to be told they need new struts, new filters, new brakes, and 4 new tires?

Going To The Mechanic Can Be A Stressul Experience

Trust me, we've all been there. When I lived in Pennsylvania, I would go to get my oil changed every 5,000 miles, and without a doubt, the mechanic changing my oil would come out and try to sell me something that I didn't need. And thank God, at the time I lived with three roommates who were all car guys, so they were always good at helping me decide whether the mechanic was correct, or if he was trying to squeeze a few extra bucks out of me.

Since moving to Jersey, I've been on the lookout for a solid mechanic; the kind of place that isn't going to upsell me on everything, and is honest, and willing to have a dialogue about my car needs rather than just seeing dollar signs walk through the door.

What Are Some Of The Best Mechanics In Ocean County, NJ?

When I lived in Seaside Heights, I'd bounce back and forth between Kelly's on 35 and the Mavis Discount Tire off 37. I had good experiences with both places. There was one time with MAvis where they misdiagnosed a battery issue; turns out I needed a new alternator, not a new battery. So they hooked me up with 2 free oil changes to try and make up the difference. The whole team at the particular Mavis was great.

Now that my wife and I live in Ocean Gate, I've been going to JP's Auto Service, right off Ocean Gate Avenue, and I think they may be one of the most open and honest mechanics I've ever dealt with.

JP's Auto Service In Ocean Gate, NJ Is A Go-To For A Trustworthy Mechanic

When I took my Scion Tc in for an oil change, they said I also needed a new water pump. They even took me into the shop, showed me the deteriorated state of the old pump, and weighed the pros and cons of changing it now versus later. And just this week, I dropped my wife's car off because the check engine light came on. They checked out what the issue was and said it was a fault in a sensor; however, the sensor was still in good working order, so it wasn't anything to worry about at this point in time, and they sent us on our way.
