Mays Landing man driving the wrong way found with loaded handgun
A Mays Landing man caught the attention of Atlantic City Police by driving the wrong way down Kentucky Avenue but was found with a loaded handgun when he finally stopped.
Atlantic City Police said three of their Detectives with the departments Special Investigations Section were patrolling the Stanley Holmes Village area following recent shootings in the area.
On Tuesday afternoon, they pulled over 18-year old Tariq Smith who was driving the wrong way on Kentucky and caught their attention back on Baltic Avenue.
When officers approached the stopped vehicle, they saw Smith enter the vehicle with a loaded handgun.
Smith was then arrested without incident being charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, while everyone else in the vehicle was released with no charges.
Smith remains in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
