Marlboro is the first New Jersey district to place armed guards at schools, according to an article at nj.com.

The armed police officers began patrolling Asher Holmes Elementary and seven other schools in Marlboro yesterday.

The measure will be in place temporarily while the board of education and township officials continue to discuss further security improvements.

Of course, it's in response to the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

Do you think this is a good idea? Why or why not?
