You're gonna need a bigger boat.

The second you hear that line you know what movie I'm talking about. Of course Jaws was one of the biggest movies of all time. Have you gone to the spot in Matawan that started it all?

For those that don't know, outrageously enough, a bull shark swam from the Jersey Shore, then into a creek ending up in Matawan...30 minutes away from the ocean. Specifically, the shark made its way from Beach Haven up to Spring Lake and then went into a freshwater creek in Matawan for its final human kill.  That infamous shark killed 4 unsuspecting swimmers (A 12-year-old boy and a 24-year-old man were both killed by the shark while playing in this Matawan Creek shown here) and seriously injured another.  This shock to our systems spawned one of the scariest movies of all time and this mural to pay homage to it.

Did you know about this ominous Matawan Man-Eater Mural at the site of one of the vicious attacks?

This was one of the strangest and darkest things to happen in our state...we still talk about it because it was so rare.

In the movie, a massive Great White Shark terrorizes a town in Cape Cod, Massachusetts but the reality is back in 1916, it started right here in Jersey.

Eventually, The shark was caught. When they dissected it, they found more than 15 pounds of human remains in its stomach. It was a bull shark which explains how it could actually live in fresh water.

LOOK: Here are the pets banned in each state

Because the regulation of exotic animals is left to states, some organizations, including The Humane Society of the United States, advocate for federal, standardized legislation that would ban owning large cats, bears, primates, and large poisonous snakes as pets.

Read on to see which pets are banned in your home state, as well as across the nation.
