Deadly Crash in Toms River
Two people were killed and two others, including a 4-year-old, were hurt in a crash in Ocean County Thursday night.
The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office says the accident happened at around 8:45 in the area of Hooper Avenue and Fischer Boulevard in Toms River.
According to officials, an investigation revealed that a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox, being driven by a 46-year-old man with a front seat passenger and a 4-year-old in the back, was headed southbound on Hooper Avenue when it crossed over the grass median and struck a 2025 Toyota Rav4, being driven by a 28-year-old woman.
As a result of the crash, the Toyota rolled onto its side and came to a rest in a wooded area on the eastern side of the road.
Two People Killed, Child Hurt
The female driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene.
The front seat passenger in the Equinox was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where she was pronounced dead.
The Equinox's driver and the four-year-old passenger were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment, and they were both last reported to be in stable condition.
Investigation Into Cause Underway
The crash remains under investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad and the Toms River Township Police Department.
