Egg Harbor Township Man Charged in Fatal Crash
An Egg Harbor Township man has now been charged in connection with a crash that claimed the life of a teenager earlier this year.
Police said on Tuesday, 71-year-old Gary Battisti was charged with second-degree vehicular homicide.
Details of the Accident
At around 2:20 on the afternoon of May 17th, Battisti struck a pedestrian on Delaware Avenue in Egg Harbor Township.
That pedestrian, identified by KYW-TV as 13-year-old Mu'Zahir Moore of Pleasantville, was pronounced dead at a local hospital as a result of the injuries he sustained.
Cause of the Crash
According to authorities, an investigation revealed Battisti was traveling at an excessive speed at the time of the crash.
This fatal crash investigation was a cooperative effort by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office's Crash Investigations Unit and the Egg Harbor Township Police Department.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
