Atlantic City Man Facing 12 Years After Drug Bust
An Atlantic City man who used his apartment to package drugs for sale appears to be headed to prison for over a decade.
On Monday, 58-year-old Frank Marquez pleaded guilty to maintaining a production facility for controlled dangerous substances and possession of controlled dangerous substances with the intent to distribute.
Under the terms of his plea agreement, he is expected to be sentenced to an aggregate term of 12 years in state prison with just over two years of parole ineligibility.
Search Warrant Leads to Major Seizure
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says on August 15th, 2024, its officers executed a search warrant at Marquez's apartment in Atlantic City.
In an upstairs bedroom, police located the following:
- A baggie containing over one-half ounce of crystal methamphetamine
- Approximately 17 bottles of Gamma Butyrolactone with droppers
- A small amount of powder ketamine
- Fentanyl strips
- A scale commonly utilized to weigh drugs for packaging and sale
- Metal strainer
- Plastic funnel
- A large number of rubber bands
- Assorted pipes and syringes
- Numerous empty, unused plastic baggies
During his guilty plea, Marquez admitted he was using his apartment to package drugs for sale.
Sentencing Scheduled
Marquez remains incarcerated in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending his sentencing, which is scheduled to occur sometime next month.
