Police are reaching out to the community, hoping someone has information about a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run involving a police car.

The incident happened on June 30th around 11 am near the intersection of Hooper Avenue and Brick Boulevard in Brick Township.

Police attempted a traffic stop and the vehicle, said to be a late model Honda Civic hatchback parked behind a building at the Brick Mall.

With the patrol car stopped behind the Honda, the driver of the vehicle, then put it in reverse, hitting the patrol car, and then hitting a garbage dumpster, as he fled the scene.

Police say the vehicle, is black and has damage on the driver's side front end.  They believe the car may also have red paint from the damage resulting from hitting the dumpster, which is red.

The car has temporary New Jersey tags that begin with the letter "c."

The driver is believed to be a Hispanic male, with black hair.  He was wearing a black hat at the time of the accident.
