A Shuttered Hamilton Mall Store Is (Briefly) Coming Back to Life
A New Jersey woman's business is breathing a little life back into a shuttered Hamilton Mall shop, if only for one weekend.
This Thursday through Sunday, Oct. 1-4, a pop-upconsignment sale will take place in the former Forever 21 store, which closed in May 2025.
Tag, You're It's Pop-Up Event Idea
Tag, You're It says they have reimagined the traditional consignment business and turned it into a boutique-style shopping experience.
The idea is to bring together thousands of quality items from local families, making it easy for shoppers to discover good finds at great prices while allowing consignors to earn extra cash from items they no longer need.
Tag, You're It's owner, Rickee Jackson, who calls herself a New Jersey mom, says her idea is to hold more than a pop-up consignment sale, but to create an event where families could earn extra income, shop good bargains, and enjoy being part of a welcoming community.
How Does It Work for the Consignor?
On its webpage, Tag You're It says you can register for free and set your own prices. You will earn 60 to 70% of what's sold if you agree to volunteer for a 4-hour shift at this weekend's sale.
I'm no expert in consigning. Do normal consignment sales require you to work for free at the sale to display your items?
UPDATE: A couple of hours after publishing this article, Tag, You're It owner Rickee Jackson contacted me to clarify the volunteer aspect of this weekend's sale.
"Consignors are not required to volunteer at the sale. Volunteering is simply an opportunity for them to earn a higher commission on their sales. They can choose whether or not they want to participate."
How Does It Work for Shoppers?
This part I understand. You shop and choose from thousands of items that Tag, You're It says are the latest fashion trends, designer brands, baby gear, décor, toys, and more, all at a fraction of retail.
The Bottom Line For Hamilton Mall
I wish this small business woman success with her pop-up consignment sale.
This type of thinking could be a much-needed lifeline for the floundering Hamilton Mall or other area malls that are down on their luck.
It's certainly time for struggling malls to start thinking outside the box for ways to generate revenue and interest.
From what I understand, some malls have turned around their business model and had success in the modern day. Let's go, Hamilton Mall; it's your turn.
