I was recently talking to someone, and I mentioned how in today's world, you have to be aware of your surroundings and who you are dealing with. People used to have a filter, and there was a line before things went "sideways". Nowadays, there is no line, and people react in a very crazy and dangerous way when things escalate.

People will explode over the most trivial things, and you need to be aware of the situation you are in and who you are dealing with.

Case in point, the self-checkout line when you are out shopping. Can it be frustrating? Of course, is it worth literally fighting someone over? No! That's what happened recently at a New Jersey Walmart. A disagreement escalated into a fight.

According to a Patch article, Police responded to a Walmart in Vineland, New Jersey, following an incident that left a worker unconscious. According to reports, the guilty party allegedly walked through self-checkout without paying for everything. When an employee called him out, he hit the worker and left the scene, police said.

Patch added, "The employee was left unconscious on the floor and sustained serious injuries that included a brain bleed and concussion."

According to the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office, 50-year-old Vineland resident Shawn C. Thomas was sentenced this week to seven years in NJ State Prison "after he pleaded guilty to second-degree aggravated assault."
