Don’t Want People to Know You’re From New Jersey? Don’t Say These 10 Words

These words will definitely blow your cover.

There's no hiding the fact that we have an accent here in New Jersey (there are actually different kinds of accents depending on what part of the state you're from, but that's a different conversation for another day).

Don't get it twisted though, only WE New Jerseyans can point out our accents. If someone else does it, it's not going to fly.  Nothing is more annoying than having someone ask you to repeat a word over and over again because you say it differently, and they find it amusing.  Like what am I, your personal puppet?

...and then once that happens, the other New Jersey stereotypes start rolling in, but I digress.

I can't tell you the number of times I've gone somewhere and someone was able to pinpoint where I was from after not even 5 seconds of talking to me.  Has that ever happened to you?

Of course, the words that make our accent stand out are the simple ones that pop up in almost every conversation.  But, if you're looking to hide the fact you're from New Jersey from anyone (and why would you do that!?) these are the words you should avoid saying at all costs.
