Fightin’ Words! New Jersey Is Ugly?
We have heard a lot when it comes to putting New Jersey down over the years, but to call the state "ugly" well those are fightin' words! lol Dictionary.com defines "ugly' as very unattractive or unpleasant to look at; offensive to the sense of beauty; displeasing in appearance. Additionally they define "ugly" as disagreeable; unpleasant; objectionable.
When I saw the title of the article by Critical Financial "18 Ugliest States in America" I somehow knew that the Garden State might be on this list lol and sure enough as I scrolled through the states that made the "Ugly 18" there we were. "While beauty is in the eye of the beholder, some states notably lack diverse natural landscapes and breathtaking scenery."
Living here in New Jersey my whole life I have become accustomed to hearing the "Jersey" jokes from the late-night TV host hacks and others, so this isn't new, but usually when you are referred to as "ugly" well those are fightin' words lol
Like all the other states on the list, you can't simply generalize an entire state because it may have some somewhat unattractive spots. In our case, we are more than just the area of the Turnpike that they usually refer to as "ugly". We have gorgeous forests, beaches, farms, and towns here in New Jersey. More beauty than ugliness here in New Jersey, The Critical Financial article said "Frenzhub wonders, “If unchecked urban sprawl and endless turnpikes make you cringe, then the Garden State might leave you feeling underwhelmed.” But the state also features rolling hills, beaches, glacial lakes, and the Palisades."
