Discover The New Jersey Spots Perfect For Retirement Living
Many of you reading this article may be in the same boat as myself. We are starting to think ahead as we start to see retirement down the road and we are considering where do I actually want to retire?
According to SeniorLiving.com, "For the most part, New Jersey is ahead of the curve with regard to its older adult population. Thirty-seven percent of New Jersey's residents are 50 or older, higher than the U.S. rate of 35.3 percent."
So it's no wonder that we have many who are looking for that perfect place to retire here in the Garden State. According to SeniorLiving.com, "Almost 3.3 million residents of the state are 50 or older."
Here are 6 "secretly amazing" towns here in New Jersey to retire in that I think are a perfect fit for many.
1. Little Egg Harbor
2. Barnegat Light
3. Cape May
4. Princeton
5. Sparta
6. Lambertville
Here are my thoughts on these towns that made this list of great places to retire in New Jersey.
Little Egg Harbor — no traffic nightmares, no crowds. Just water views, good neighbors, and a pace of life that lets you breathe. My wife and I figured that out pretty fast, and thirty-some years later, we're still not complaining.
Barnegat Light is as Jersey Shore as it gets — the lighthouse, the bay, that small-town feel that's getting harder to find.
Cape May is in a class by itself. Victorian homes, a walkable downtown, and it consistently shows up on national "best places to retire" lists for good reason.
Princeton brings something different — world-class arts, great healthcare, and a walkable downtown with real character.
Sparta up in Sussex County offers that four-seasons, lake-community lifestyle. Peaceful, pretty, and surrounded by people who chose quiet over chaos.
And Lambertville, right on the Delaware River, has an arts scene and small-town charm that people love.
What town would you add to the list? I'll admit I'm a little partial, my wife and I have called Little Egg Harbor home for over 30 years and never looked back. If retirement is on your horizon, we hope it's everything you've worked for.
