I want to make you aware of a truly special event that will take place Friday February 9th at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River.  Sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation “Night to Shine” is a prom-night experience for people with special needs, ages 14 and older.  This is the 10th year of the program which has become a world-wide event and held each year on the Friday before Valentine’s Day.  On February 9th “Night to Shine” will be held in 46 countries with more than 600 host churches and 75,000 very special guests.

110 of the “honored guests” will be paired with a one-on-one special buddy for the evening and will be assisted by 300 volunteers to make for an incredible experience.  This magical evening will include limo rides, photography, hair and make-up stations, flowers, dinner, dancing, a karaoke room and much more.   Towards the end of the evening each of the special guests will be crowned a king or queen of the prom.

This will not only be an incredible evening for the guests but their parents and caretakers as well with 220 of them attending in a respite room at the church.  As you can imagine it takes not only tremendous support from the volunteers and the church itself but the community has also rallied to do their part.  OceanFirst Bank, Outback Steak House, Sprinkled by Sam, Taste of Italy, Sal’s Italian Restaurant and Pizza and Wallach’s Farm Market and Deli are just some of the sponsors who have contributed to make it all happen.

As Tim Tebow says everyone with special needs should be celebrated and on February 9th hundreds will come together at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River to do just that.  If you would like to donate 100% will go to the event and you could mail checks (made out to PCTR) to 1070 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ 08753 (attention NCS) OR go to the church website and follow “give online” link and specify “Night to Shine.”
