With Thanksgiving just around the corner, the last place anyone wants to spend the holiday is in the emergency room instead of gathered around the table enjoying turkey and stuffing with your family and friends.
It's not something I want to even think about, but I guess now is a good time to talk about the most common Thanksgiving mishaps that can land you in the ER, so you can hopefully avoid them and keep your day safe.

You would probably guess that the number one reason people end up in the hospital on Thanksgiving is cuts from carving the turkey, and you would be correct.
Most Common Thanksgiving Injuries
Cuts and lacerations are some of the most common holiday injuries, according to a report in the New York Post.
Think about it. You're not paying attention, and it's probably a special knife that you don't use very often, so it's extra sharp, and then all of a sudden...it happens.

Other common injuries include burns and orthopedic injuries, like a pulled muscle or tendon.
We all have that family member who's overly competitive and wants to play a pickup game in the backyard on Thanksgiving, and someone always gets hurt.
Other injuries include head injuries from falling and stomach problems such as food poisoning and food allergies.
Something to think about in the days following Thanksgiving is not keeping all those leftovers for too long. It's hard to throw food away, so make sure to indulge in the days after Thanksgiving, and not the weeks following the big day!
