THIS JUST IN: New Jersey is expensive.

While I don't fully understand the math behind inflation and exchange rates and stuff, the people at FoxBusiness do, and figured out how much a dollar is worth in all 50 states, based on cost of living and income and other data.

Where does a dollar stretch the furthest? Mississippi, where a dollar is worth $1.16. Rounding out the Top 5 are Alabama & Arkansas (both $1.15) and Kentucky & West Virginia (both $1.14).

Delaware, Florida, Oregon, and Rhode Island all land square with a dollar being worth $1.00.

How does NJ rank? Not good. New Jersey has the 4th worst value, with a dollar only being worth 88 cents. The only states worse are California & New York (87 cents) and Hawaii (84 cents).
