Father and son arrested after growing marijuana farm in Manchester Township
A father and son are arrested Thursday for allegedly growing a marijuana farm at a home on Weldon Road in the Holly Oaks section of Manchester Township.
After Manchester Township Police's Narcotics Enforcement Team and the Ocean County Regional SWAT team executed a search warrant on the property, they found 29 5-6 foot marijuana plants growing in the backyard and 711 grams inside the home as well as crack-cocaine, a stun gun, hypodermic syringes, packaging and distribution of marijuana, a .22 caliber revolver and several pieces of drug paraphernalia used for preparation.
The investigation started following a tip to police that someone was growing the weed at that house.
As a result, the two men face hefty charges for allegedly maintaining a controlled dangerous substance facility, possession of and possession with intent to distribute marijuana and other drug related offenses.
63-year old Richard Ponsiek is charged with one count each of Conspiracy to Commit Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Conspiracy to Commit Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana within 500 Feet of a Park, Conspiracy to Commit Possession of Marijuana over 50 grams and Possession of Prohibited Weapons.
37-year old Michael Ponsiek is charged with one count each of Maintaining a CDS Manufacturing Facility, Possession of and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana within 500 Feet of a Park, Possession of a Stun Gun, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Hypodermic Syringes.
