I could not even believe it.

Now the story I am about to recount to you happened in the span of no more than 5 to 10 seconds max but MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS.....did it leave me with my heart racing.

So I was driving on the Garden State Parkway -- as all of us New Jerseyans do as some point in our lives -- to a doctor's appointment that I was actually kind of nervous about. It has been a tough month and the quicker this appointment was done and over with, the better.

I am driving North trying to find the perfect song to distract my mind when all of the sudden, a car that was in the lane to the left and a few hundred feet in front of me chucked something out of their window!

I am still not sure what it was because it happened so fast but the second it was out of the window, the high winds caused whatever this was to burst into a TON of pieces.

And guess where they all landed? On my windshield and it blocked my view of the road for what felt like whatever.

This jolted me and I know this whole healing from back surgery situation has made me 100X more sensitive but my heart rate spiked and I swerved.

I am lucky I hit no one.

I am lucky no one hit me.

AND I am lucky that whatever this material was did not burst my windshield because holy cow. Could you imagine?

Maybe this thing slipped. Maybe it flew out the window on accident. Or maybe -- and I hope not -- this was done on purpose for whatever reason.

My goodness....my dude...don't ever do something like this again.

I have complained about things that have happened to me on the New Jersey roadways before but for some reason, this one had left me shaking.

I am one month post op. I am at such a vulnerable state right now where a car accident could have put me in a catastrophic health situation. (Not that anyone is ever in a good spot for an accident)

You never know what the car next to you is going through so, my god, please NEVER EVER just toss things out of your window.

If not for the littering/cleanliness aspect of things, then for the safety.

I'm fine. Everyone is fine.

But don't.  Just DON'T....ever again.

Nicole S. Murray.

As always, would love to hear your thoughts. Recovery has been tough so please don't be discouraged if I don't get back to you right away.

So....tell me your opinion and/or if you had something crazy happened to you on our roadways. Send it to Nicole.Murray@townsquaremedia.com.

But while I recover....let's see where New Jersey ranks in this interesting study:

The States Where People Live The Longest

Stacker used data from the 2020 County Health Rankings to rank every state's average life expectancy from lowest to highest. The 2020 County Health Rankings values were calculated using mortality counts from the 2016-2018 National Center for Health Statistics. The U.S. Census 2019 American Community Survey and America's Health Rankings Senior Report 2019 data were also used to provide demographics on the senior population of each state and the state's rank on senior health care, respectively.

Read on to learn the average life expectancy in each state.
