COVID-19 Outbreak Traced Back To Leggett’s
I like Leggett's. The outside always reminded me of some Miami Vice-style bar, with the bright beachy colors and the different heights and giant glass wall. It's a stark but fitting contrast to the simple blue-and-white of The Osprey right next door.
Unfortunately, officials have pointed to Leggett's as the epicenter of a recent outbreak of COVID-19.
State Health Commissioner Judy Persichilli said that if you were at Leggett's between October 17th and 22nd, you may have been exposed. At least nine bartenders and servers have tested positive.
We've done a few events there with the Hawk, I've been there with friends, and on a normal night, that place is packed shoulder-to-shoulder. Obviously with the current restrictions, capacity was limited, but even so, it looks like the virus was able to spread across the staff.
On October 22nd, Leggett's posted on Facebook that they would be temporarily closing indoor and outdoor dining, but still stay open for takeout.
On November 3rd, they said they would re-open indoor dining on November 5th.
However, this report of positive COVID cases came out on November 9th. Leggett's doesn't seem to have updated their hours or policies yet - at least not via Facebook. It's obviously a very fluid situation, and things are changing rapidly. We'll keep you updated as best as we can!
