Beloved Local New Jersey Hardware Store Closing Up Shop After 5 Decades In Business
Something that I really admire about Jersey is all of the local mom-and-pop businesses that are scattered throughout the state.
Honestly, it's not something you see too much of anymore.
From locally owned restaurants to shops lining the main streets in our small towns, family-owned businesses really are the heart of New Jersey.
What I really love is the number of local hardware stores I see.
Of course, we have your Home Depot and your Lowe's but there's just something about shopping at a hardware store that's owned by people who actually live and work in our area.
One of my favorites is Lavallette Hardware off 35.
Over the summertime, when I have family visiting we end up there at least once a day to pick something up to try and finish a project around the house.
Or a place like Bob's True Value in Whiting that's family-owned but can offer a lot of different products and services.
What's really upsetting though, is when one of these family-owned hardware stores announces they're going to close its doors for good.
Especially when that store's been serving the community for over five decades.
Unfortunately, it appears as though that's exactly what's happening with one family-owned hardware store in Colts Neck, NJ.
This was a place that was passed down from one generation to the next and was able to offer customers trusted advice as well as quality products.
They even sold a very specific type of grass seed mixture that was produced specifically for the soil of Central Jersey.
According to the Monmouth Journal, it appears as though Beckers Hardware in Colts Neck is getting ready to close its doors for good.
Starting March 17th, there will be a retirement sale, and sadly come April Beckers will close up shop for good.
If you want to swing in one last time, you can find Beckers Hardware at 430 Highway 34 in Colts Neck, New Jersey.
