It's definitely starting to feel like fall.

The days are shorter, and the mornings are chillier, just the other day when I left my apartment it was 59 degrees out.

Fall is a great season, there's just a nice crisp in the air as the leaves start to change colors and the sky can be especially gorgeous this time of year.

Of course, with fall coming that means Halloween is right around the corner!

I love Halloween; scary movies, parties, costumes, parades, haunted hayrides, and pumpkin carving, it's just so much fun.

Of course, the easiest way to get yourself into the Halloween spirit is to visit some towns that get really into the holiday.

Recently, I saw an article in Country Living outlining the "best small towns to visit for Halloween" and there was one single town from New Jersey that made the list.

Before we start planning our trip though, there were some really neat places right outside of New Jersey worth mentioning.

What Are Some Great Halloween Towns Near New Jersey?

There were two towns a quick drive from the Garden State that made Country Livings' list of the best small towns to visit for Halloween.

One was in PA and the other in New York

First, let's head to PA, where New Hope made the list.

New Hope is a really quaint small town right near the PA/NJ border and they host a bunch of fun Halloween events from ghost tours, to Sleepy Hollow Haunted Acres.

New Hope is also right near Peddlers Village, which if you haven't visited during Halloween is a real treat. The scarecrow display they feature is awesome.

Our last stop before Jersey, New York!

This town in New York completely deserves to be on Country Livings list in my opinion.

Sleepy Hollow, just over the New York, New Jersey border is a great Halloween town, it's where Washington Irving's Sleepy Hollo legend was born.

It's also a fun small town to walk around and just enjoy the Halloween season.

So, What's the Best Small Town To Visit During Halloween In New Jersey?

I'll be honest, I'm not too sure if I agree with Country Living's pick for New Jersey.

It's definitely spooky, and it may be the birthplace of the Jersey Devil, but it's not too high on my travel list.

I did read a great review about the town on trip advisor by user pnemiller who said there is plenty of hiking, museums, and a nature center.

The New Jersey Pine Barrens was chosen by Country Living as the best small town in New Jersey for Halloween.

Do you agree?

From what I understand the Pine Barrens is a massive part of New Jersey, not just a small town, correct me if I'm wrong!

However, if the Pine Barrens are supposedly one of the most haunted parts of New Jersey, it would make sense to go visit for the scariest holiday of the year!

Since the Pines are spread throughout a large portion of New Jersey so planning some sort of visit shouldn't be too hard.
