School districts across Ocean County and the state of New Jersey continue to piece together a plan for how to begin the 2020-21 academic year with time running out to make such decisions.

This week the Toms River Regional School District made the decision to go all virtual to begin the school year and in Berkeley Township District Superintendent James Roselli sent a letter to parents announcing that they will be going with a hybrid model.

Roselli said Preschool through 6th grade students will be set up in cohorts (Group 1 and Group 2) in an effort to provide safe spaces for social distancing to be followed.

Group 1 students who has the last names A-L will attend in-person instruction Monday and Tuesday.

Group 2 students who have the last names M-Z will attend in-person instruction Thursday and Friday.

All students will have a full virtual day on Wednesday as school officials also use that day for a deep cleaning of the building.

Roselli said that the schedule for the days students will be at home doing hybrid learning will be released soon.

Here are the times students will be attending school in person:

BTES: 7:25 - 11:25.

CBW: 8:05 - 12:05.

BAY: 8:40 - 12:40.

HMP: 9:15 - 1:15.

Breakfast and Lunch will be available for students as "Grab and Go" meals.

The Parent Portal will be open on August 28 which is when you will see your child’s homeroom and transportation information.

All new students or newly transferred students will be receiving a letter by mail with your portal login information.

"Thank you for your continued support and flexibility while we plan to reopen our schools in the safest way possible. Please understand we may need to pivot to an all remote program at any time to ensure the health and safety of students and staff," Roselli said in the letter.
