The landscape of Asbury Park's historic boardwalk could be in Jeopardy, now that contractors seem to be in breach of contract over the restoration of the breezeway that connects the Asbury Park Boardwalk to Ocean Grove.

If you've ever been to Asbury Park's boardwalk, you know the exact spot I'm talking about; it's on the South end of the boardwalk, near the Carousel House.

Apparently, back in 2010, developers purchased the property in order to restore the building and make sure that the historical structure would remain intact, and a part of the Asbury Park Boardwalk.

Demolition Permit Filing Raises Breach of Contract Concerns

However, it seems as though the developer may be in breach of contract after filing for a permit for demolition regarding the Casino Breezeway.

The TikTok channel This Week In Asbury does a really good job at breaking down what's going on with the whole situation.

What Could Happen if the Casino Breezeway Is Demolished

Part of what makes Asbury Park so unique is its history and heritage, and it would be an absolute shame to see a historic structure such as this torn down. I'm afraid that if it is, more high rises would be built in its place, which would price people out of the Jersey Shore even more.

Legal and Bureaucratic Hurdles That Could Delay Demolition

Now, it does seem like it could be an uphill battle, as there is a lot of paperwork and legalities that have to happen in order for the demolition to be approved, including coming up with creative solutions to either repair the building or protect it.

The city has a lot of support from the community as well when it comes to trying to save this historic building.
