The last week or so has been full of closure announcements from major retailers. At the moment, specific locations haven't been named, but a trio of businesses with a large presence in Ocean County could be shutting down, changing the landscape of our area and affecting your holiday shopping.

Pier 1, with two locations in Ocean County in Toms River and Manahawkin, announced they would be closing at least 70 stores.

Forever 21, in both the Ocean County and Monmouth Mall, said "a number" of their 800 locations will close, but "a significant number" will remain open. The difference between "a number" and "a significant number" can really come down to semantics, so who knows.

Finally, Bed Bath & Beyond plan to close 60 stores. The BB&B brand includes Christmas Tree Shops and Harmon Face Values - there are BB&Bs in Brick, Manahawkin, and Toms River; a Christmas Tree Shop and Harmon Face Values are in Brick.

Again, the exact locations of these closures haven't been announced, but we'll update you with any specifics we get.

Thanks to my coworker Justin Louis at WOBM for gathering this info.
