Christian Brothers Academy was selected as the No. 1 seed for the 2022 Shore Conference Wrestling Tournament when the seeding committee convened on Sunday morning at Point Pleasant Boro High School.

The Colts, ranked No. 2 in the Shore Sports Network Top 10, are involved in a triangle with Middletown South (37-24 victory) and Howell (32-31) loss. The most recent result was Middletown South's 31-27 win over Howell on Jan. 18. CBA defeated Middletown South on Jan. 12. Howell beat CBA on Jan. 5. CBA also owns a 43-23 win over Brick Memorial on Jan 8.

Top-ranked Southern Regional once again opted out of the tournament to instead wrestle Phillipsburg on Saturday, Jan. 29. The Rams last competed in the SCT in 2011 when they won

Middletown South then earned the No. 2 seed based on its head-to-head win over Howell with the Rebels coming in as the No. 3 seed.

The No. 4 seed came down to Brick Memorial and St. John Vianney with the committee opting for the Mustangs. Brick Memorial's best win is a 38-25 victory over Hunterdon Central, which was ranked in the state top 20 at the time.

Another triangle involving Raritan, Jackson Memorial, and Lacey was sorted out to determine seeds six through eight. Raritan defeated Jackson, 44-21, on Jan. 15. Jackson won 35-32 over Lacey on Jan. 5. Lacey beat Raritan, 37-30, on Dec. 30. The triangle was dropped the committee went through several data points before selecting the Rockets as the No. 6 seed with Jackson and Lacey following in order.

Rumson-Fair Haven, Point Boro, Ocean, and Red Bank Catholic round out the top 12 who will receive first-round byes. Seeds 13-20 were the toughest for the committee to seed with multiple triangles to be sorted through.

In the event of a team unable to compete due to Covid, the match will not be rescheduled and the opponent would move on to the next round. Snow dates are the following day for all rounds.

The Shore Conference Tournament transitioned to an individual tournament beginning in 2018 but is returning to a team format this season because of an inability to secure a large enough facility to host a two-day individual tournament coupled with Covid concerns. It is expected to return to an individual format in 2023.
