Main Card

Benson Henderson Decisions Frankie Edgar

The split decision was not without controversy in a fight that seemed destined to go the distance. Henderson landed the most significant strikes throughout the bout with repeated leg kicks that sent Edgar reeling, but the former champ began catching Henderson’s lead leg and returning the favor with leg kicks and takedowns of his own. It was Edgar who attempted to finish the fight with front chokes and guillotines, in addition to landing more punches. One judge scored it 49-46 in favor of Frankie Edgar; the other two called it 48-47 Henderson. Poor Edgar.

After getting rocked by a left hook, Cerrone quickly recovered, attacking with a switch kick and finishing the fight with a straight right hand. Guillard, who didn’t even make weight for this bout, suffered the first KO of his career. Back to the drawing board for him.

Jake Shields Decisions Ed Herman

Shields made a return to middleweight, and made Ed Herman look like an amateur. Although he was unsuccessful in his submission attempts (he went for a kimura and an arm triangle), Shields’ takedowns were slick and he easily controlled Herman on the ground. Although he was unable to finish the fight, he won by unanimous decision.

PRELIMINARY BOUTS (FX)

Dennis Bermudez Submits Tommy Hayden

Hayden came out strong in this fight, landing a big knee and fishing for a rear-naked choke. But Dennis the Menace came back strong, recovering position, stuffing a takedown and finishing the fight with a standing guillotine choke.

Michael Kuiper TKOs Jared Hamman

This fight was all Kuiper. He responded to a kick from Hamman with punch after punch after punch. A punch from Kuiper left Hamman on wobby legs, and the judo black belt capitalized with more punches.

Erik Perez Knocks Out Ken Stone

There was nothing controversial about this fight. Perez stepped in and won the fight with punches in just 17 seconds.

Chico Camus Decisions Dustin Pague

Chico Camus is scrappy. The Roufusport representative was successful in his UFC debut. He survived a rear-naked choke attempt and a prolonged triangle choke attempt by Dustin Pague and kept the TUF 14 alum on the defensive.

PRELIMINARY BOUT (Facebook)

Nik Lentz TKOs Eiji Mitsuoka

Nik Lentz was successful in his featherweight debut, and defeated Mitsuoka in dominant fashion. Lentz controlled the entire match, securing multiple takedowns and ultimately finishing the fight by taking Mitsuoka’s back and landing unanswered strikes until the referee had seen enough.
