The spire atop One World Trade Center in New York City was installed this morning, making the building the highest in the Western Hemisphere at a significant 1,776 feet high.

Workers and spectators cheered as the beautiful spire was set in place in an intensely emotional moment after so many years of hard work to restore the city skyline after the destruction of 9/11.

According to reason.com, the 408-foot spire, which weighs 758 tons, includes a broadcast antenna and a light that will be visible from miles away to serve as a both a beacon for aircraft and a permanent signal of triumph over the attack the rocked the city.

I can't watch this without getting chills up and down my body.

Kudos to the hard work by all the people who made this moment possible!
