The good people of the Point Pleasant Recreation Committee are celebrating the most wonderful time of the year - LOCAL SUMMER.

I am a loud and proud winter person, but I can appreciate that golden time of year when it's nice enough to go to the beach without fighting off hordes of tourists. I enjoy being able to drive on the Parkway or Route 72 without staring at out-of-state license plates going too slow in the left lane or cutting everyone off driving on the shoulder. Local summer is just a month away, as Point Beach is holding their "Local Summer" bonfire on Saturday, September 7th from 6-10pm on the Maryland Avenue beach in Point.

It's a family-friendly event with live music, food, and more. You can bring your blanket and beach chairs and enjoy an incredible night!
